Why changing careers is a good thing?

Hello, there smartsouls! How have you been? I'm great as always. In today's blog post, we will be discussing how it can be a good thing to change careers.

So, let's begin.

Before explaining to you the perks of changing your plans, I will share with you my career plans so far.

The very first goal of mine was to become a fashion designer, which I decided after watching Barbie and the fashion fairytale. I was in 2nd grade at that time, and honestly, I didn't even know the spelling of fashion designer back then. Later, in the 4th grade, I decided I wanted to become an artist. Art is so vast a subject that I never got bored of it. There were many sub-categories in this such as oil painting, crayons, watercolors, pencil shading, hatching, realistic, doodle, and a lot more.

Then, in the 9th grade, I decided I will be an artist but not as a profession, meaning that I will keep it as a hobby. During this time I had no plans for a career and was exploring various options. In the 10th grade, I wanted to become a CA because I love maths. CA exam is hard, and I like challenges, so I signed up for it. Inter I chose MEC plus CA. During my 2nd year (12th) I realized CA was not my cup of tea. And while trying new waters I discover many things but the one that stuck with me was psychology. I decided after 12th I will pursue BAPsychology. The plan was great. I got my 12th results but there is a twist here. Though I wanted to learn BAPsychology I never intended on becoming a therapist, or anything in psychology. I just wanted to study it and that's it.

During one of our many conversations, my brother suggested why don't I try LLB. now, folks, I hate law. I hate involving myself with the government, and the laws. One of many reasons why CA was not my thing. But for some odd reasons, I gave it a chance and researched a bit about LLB and the career options available. And, I decided I wanted to study law (BALLB). I appeared for TSLAWCET and secured a good rank, and I'm currently studying BALLB.

The story started with me wanting to become a fashion designer, and here I'm studying law. And I'm not sure what I want next, either I can be a criminal advocate, legal writer, or a poet, I don't know.

The moral of the story is it's okay to change careers, to know what fits you and what doesn't. As I have mentioned in one of my blog posts (Kickstart your career), choosing a career is like buying a pair of shoes. Try a pair of them, if they are comfortable keep them, and if they are not then try another. It's not as if you chose one and you have to stick with it for the rest of your life.

While changing my career, I realized, I was more of a creative person, and adventurous, in the sense something new always. So, I have to choose a career which must have these 2 qualities. Basically, trying a new career, helps you understand yourself better, and realize what actually makes you happy and at peace.

As I have mentioned in my previous blog post(5 tips to help you to motivate others) that it's okay to change a career if you are sure that you don't want to pursue it anymore. And the decision should not be based on a temporary situation but rather on the permanent condition of the same.

Additionally, you can stick to more than just one career. For instance, I'm studying law while being a poet, an author, a blogger, an artist, a transcriber, and more. In conclusion, Jack of trades, and master of none.

That would be all for today. Do let me know what you think about changing a career, or whether you have ever changed one? In case, others who are reading the comments can get a push to change theirs.
