“The more you sweat regularly, the less you bleed in crisis.”
In today's post, I will share the fifth principle of how to stay motivated. If you have not seen the previous principle, click here for the first principle, here for the second principle, here for the third principle, here for the fourth principle.
So now let's begin. The fifth principle is:
5) Sweat in peacetime:
There is a saying in Navy seals, "Sweat more in peacetime otherwise you have to bleed more at the time of the battle." And what's the connection of this saying with the motivation?, you'll come to know that very soon.
Steve and Rett had learned this saying when they were kids when they used to practice for baseball leagues. The opposite team with whom they used to practice were elder to them and they used to throw the ball very fast, and Steve and Rett were unable to play it and they used to lose quickly. because of which their motivation started decreasing.
To deal with this situation, what they did was, they went home and took their father's golf balls, which are very small compared to baseballs, and started practicing with the golf ball, standing very near to each other, because of this the difficulty level increased. The golf ball was small, looking for it was quite difficult and the ball used to come fast because they used to throw it from near and it also swung.
Due to regular practice, when the actual competition started, playing with baseball became really easy for them. Steve and Rett used to find it really easy. They used to play very smoothly and scored many home runs and made their team win.
Here this story says, if we prepare ourselves for a difficult situation first then handling a normal situation will become really easy for us and we will also be motivated. The reason for lack of motivation is fear which is there within us like what if we lose or something like this, which doesn't allow us to move ahead in life and stay motivated.
Another example is from the Dangal movie, where Mahavir Singh Phogat (Amir Khan) makes his daughters practice against boys and because of which in real competition those girls find it easier to fight against girls and they used to win easily.
Even Muhammed Ali used to practice with an opponent who is much stronger than the opponent he is going to fight in the actual competition because of which he used to find it easier to have a real fight with that less powerful opponent.
There is also a similar saying in Sanskrit yuddha kale shastrabhyasah, which in English means, "there is no point in getting trained to use weapons at the time of war."
If you are well prepared, you can be more confident in facing the hardships and minimizing your losses.
Hope you all like it, until next time, keep smiling and spread happiness. Bye, take care.
