You are not unique! And here is why.

Hello there Smartsouls, how have you been? I'm great as always. In today's blog post, I will share why thinking you are unique is wrong, and that we are all the same.

Let's begin:

Raise your hand if you have even once heard that you are unique, and perfect just the way you are. It is an established myth spread by so-called influencers. Before you start pointing your weapons at me, hear me out!

There are two ways to approach this. One is in physical terms, and the other one in philosophical terms.

In physical terms, we are all different. Everyone has different physical features and is unique because the probability of their birth is 0.00000001. I agree, and that's true as well. But, it's physical. It is something you did not do. You are taking credit for something you didn't do.

Whereas in the philosophical approach, we are all the same, it is what we bring to the table that makes us useful to the community. We are not perfect, no one is. It is what you bring to the table that matters. Notice that I'm saying that's what matters, not something that'll make you unique.

To give you an idea, if someone was to die today, he/she will just die. It might make some people sad, their lives would be affected, just for a while. Then move on. If that said person brought to the table something irreplaceable, then maybe that person will be remembered for a while more, but then move on.

That's how it is. We, Gen Z, however, take pride in thinking that we are unique, or "I'm not like him/her", but it's not true. There is always someone who has it the same as us. Maybe a little variations exist, however, if we boil it down, we are all the same.

Sadly, I was a victim of this myth too. I too believed that I'm different, unique, and irreplaceable. Until I realized I wasn't. We are putting an immense amount of pressure on ourselves by trying to Pretend that we are different. I hate to admit it, but once upon a time I too lived in my bubble where I believed I was not like other girls. As soon as I realized that I wasn't different from other girls, my life changed. I mean I'm stress-free and enjoy whatever I want to.

I keep improving myself to serve the community because that's why I'm here on this earth. To play my part and be gone. Chasing the carrot will only lead to a miserable life.

I read in "Tuesdays with Morrie" that before you know how you want to live, know how you want to die, and nothing has been the same for me ever since then.

I'm not saying that we are all exactly the same. I'm saying that we are not completely different. There is always a bunch of people that exist who are living the same way as you do.
