Timetable: Opinionated

Hello there Smartsouls, how have you been? I'm great as always. In today's blog post, I will share my opinions regarding the timetable, do let me know what you think about having and following a routine.

Having a routine, I think, shrinks your possibility of the unexpected and makes you feel guilty for not sticking to the routine. We, humans, are social creature, our life is connected to so many people. We shouldn't just abandon our responsibility for the sake of a routine, that we created.

Every day isn't the same. No matter what you say, there are different priorities every day. Sticking to a routine will only create an unnecessary burden on you, and rather than being a task of discipline it became an unavoidable task, simply put if you get off track even for a little while, the whole day is ruined, I mean that's how it feels.

Being accountable for how you are spending your time, and torturing yourself to follow a timetable are two very different things. Being accountable implies that you are aware of where and how you are spending your time, the same as budgeting. But following a timetable will make you a machine who must follow it or else you have wasted your whole day, even if it was not a waste.

For instance, according to your timetable, you must study from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. and at 1:00 p.m. a few of your relatives come by to meet your family. Because there are guests at home, and you must talk to them so you weren't able to study. So, was this a waste of time? If you see this from the timetable pov, then yes. But it's not. Because socializing is what makes us human.

Additionally, the whole time that you are conversing with the relatives, you would be cursing them for showing up during your study hours and you are not really talking to them, you are just there for formality, to pretend that you are happy to have them.

So, what's the solution? What I often do is rather than having a routine and guilt-trapping myself to following it, I have a to-do list. Things that I must complete on that particular day, no delay. When I must do it? I'm free to decide that. What matters is that the task is being done. The flip side of this is you must have the utmost determination and discipline, or else you will just postpone it for tomorrow, and we all know that tomorrow never comes.

In conclusion, having a routine/timetable restrains you from enjoying the unexpected. While life is full of surprises, how can you not make room for the unexpected? To enjoy life to the fullest bear in mind to be an accountable person who's living his/her life, not a robot who is following a routine to be successful.

That will be all for today. Hope to see you all soon. Do let me know what are your opinions regarding routines, as the whole point of opinionated posts is to share each other's opinions.
