Opinionated: Fake Friends

Hello there, smartypants! How have you been? I'm great as always.

In today's blog post I will share my opinion about fake friends.

So let's begin.

Humans are social beings, meaning that we need to socialize. But sometimes it might go wrong and you might be taken advantage of. There are some evil people out there who will inevitably take advantage and some good people who will help and support you.

There are loads of videos on the internet (I have linked a few at the end of this post) talking about how to identify them and break free. So I won't add a spoonful of water into the ocean, because it's no use. Instead, I will share the pearls which one can find with experience.

In a nutshell, fake friends are those who are there in your good times but disappear at the very sight of adversaries. Spotting them shouldn't be an issue since their true colors surface with time. Your instincts will also guide you in this matter.

Not all people are fake. There might be some people who you think are fake based on the situation but actually aren't.

Note that you might be the fake friend too, unconsciously. Life is not a movie. Even if you think life is a movie and you're the MC, know that you can be a side character in another person's movie as well and you don't get to say their story. You might have used them without ever realizing it.

Learn to say no when you have something else important to do, don't do something just to please them, or to make them like you (people pleasers).  Know that you are not the one who used someone, it is someone else who used you. Acknowledge that and move on. You chose to trust this person, who over a period of time, turned out to be a fake friend whose intention was to use you. You did your role in the friendship, and the other chose not to, hence the friendship ends. As simple as that. This might sound a bit inhuman or something but that's the truth.

In the end, don't stop making new friends just because somewhere in the past you were used by a fake friend. There are still worthy people out there.

Until next time, peace out :)
