Hello smartsouls, how have you been? I'm great as always. In today's blog post I will share a lot of things. So, let's dive into it:
The first story is that a few months ago, I had a terrible toothache. We visited a dentist and he said that I need to crown my tooth, which means I need to add a cap to my tooth. He said I can have a Zirconia crown, mental base crown, porcelain crown, or ceramic crown. He explained the pros and cons of each of them. We asked him which one would he prefer, and he said the same pros and cons over again and said me to select which one I should have.
The second story is that a few weeks ago I asked my father if he can order a few books, and he questioned how many? I answered maybe 5, and he agreed and told me to share the links to the ones that I wanted him to order. I have at least a hundred books in my TBR, and I wasn't able to select just five. However, I managed to select 10 books and shared the links with my father.
Now, why am I telling this? Keep reading to find out.
Confused. A word that almost everyone has used at least once. But don't be disappointed folks. It is a good word to be used. Confusion is a sign of intelligence, a sign of knowledge. You can be confused only if you know the pros and cons of two or more opposing things. You won't see a terrorist being confused about when to do what, right?
And when you are confused about making a decision that means you are using the jelly in your head and are conscious of the situation.
I have published a blog post about how to make a decision(click here) and in that, I mentioned that you should tally the pros and cons and select the option which has more pros than cons. And honestly, I used to get second-hand embarrassment whenever I came across that post. Why you might ask? Because I thought that's what everyone does. It is such an obvious thing.
But, but, but, boy was I wrong? It turns out that everyone does not do it. People don't tally their options before making a decision.
Moving on, the root cause of confusion is two or more opposing thoughts which are emerged either out of fear of the unknown or from greed and desire.
For instance, in the first story that I mentioned, I was confused because I was afraid. Afraid of the unknown. And in the second story that I mentioned, I was confused because I wanted every book on my TBR, the desire, the greed.
Often the confusion is also caused because of the available options. The more freedom you have, the more options you will have. More choices will lead to paralysis of decision making and hence very difficult to choose at all.
Let us witness the elephant in the room, how to be more clear? or how to make a decision? If you are having a problem making a decision, then in this particular case it would be better to learn from experience. Make mistakes and learn. And there is no such thing as a bad decision, I firmly believe in that.
If you are confused about the stuff in life, then the first thing you need to do is to accept. Accept the uncertainty, accept the anxiety you feel. Stop thinking about the "what ifs". Accept the way things are right now. This might make no sense to you but believe me when I say that just by accepting things you are making your life much easier than before. Accept things and focus on solutions.
There is the phenomenon of the web of thoughts. I will write a detailed post about it but according to it your mind will trap the things about which you are thinking, on which you are focusing. The law of attraction boils down to this phenomenon.
If you are simply confused about everything, then do something spiritual. If you are an atheist, then you can perform yoga or meditation which are proven to be helpful by science.
But if you do believe in god, then perform the things mentioned in your religion. Personally, I feel more clarity when I pray my salah. Religion and just the belief that there is a power beyond science that is behind everything makes it clear for us to move ahead.
The world we live in today is full of choices. The abundance of options is also a significant factor in clinical depression. I will get into it later. The abundance of options is a topic like an umbrella, it covers many different aspects of our lives, from our psychology to marketing to mental health to welfare to economics and so on. It covers so many topics that there are books written to explain the concept of "less is more" or "Hick's law".
To conclude, it is okay and normal to feel confused from time to time. It is rather a good thing. So embrace being confused, seek knowledge, and enjoy the experience it brings with it.

And note that I have more resources but I share the ones which are important and conclude the topic. So do check them out.
